The Los Fresnos Falcons faced off against the PSJA North Raiders in Week two of the 2022 Texas High School Football Season. PSJA North, who is being considered as the top team in the RGV, looked to go 2-0 after a big win over crosstown rival PSJA. The Falcons, who were 1-0 as well, looked to continue the winning ways after a big win over Weslaco East.

Defense was the primary factor in the first quarter as both teams managed to log in one touchdown east to be 7-7. In the second quarter, the North Raiders exploded on offense as they tacked on 20 points to go up 27-7 at the half.

Heading into the second half, Los Fresnos managed to outplay PSJA North offensively, picking up 13 points to cut it down to a 20-34 game. Defense again took over in a low scoring fourth quarter that saw the Raiders score the lone touchdown of the quarter to win 41-20, improving to 2-0 on the season.

While the season remains fairly young, Los Fresnos still has enough time to calibrate the Falcon offense. With three more games left before 32-6A play begins October 6, Los Fresnos’ remaining non- district opponents include PSJA High, La Joya and Mission. With these teams being out of 31-6A, the non-district calendar will be a potential bi-district preview for the Falcons later on down the line.

With 32-6A play kicking off on in three weeks, Los Fresnos will open up the district calendar against Brownsville Rivera, Weslaco, and Brownsville Hanna.
