Falcons vs. Vikings

On Tuesday, The Los Fresnos Falcons took on the Defending District 32-5A District Champion Brownsville Pace Vikings for another round of non-district action. Last season, the Falcons went to Pace in which the Vikings won 73-52. In the last two matchups, Los Fresnos is 1-1, as the Falcons won against Pace 73-61 in 2020.
To start the first quarter, the Pace Vikings jumped ahead to an 18-5 lead due to a solid defense which was backed by an explosive offense. The second quarter saw a more explosive Falcon offense, who outscored the Vikings 16 to 14. Despite a great second quarter, Los Fresnos still trailed 32-21 at the half.
The Vikings took over again in the third quarter, playing a more solid offense and limited Los Fresnos to only 12 points. Key points allowed Pace to jump ahead to a 50-33 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Now in the fourth quarter, Los Fresnos came out guns blazing. Thanks to an efficient offense and stellar defense, the Falcons scored a whopping 28 points, all while limiting the Vikings to 13 points. Despite the big comeback in the fourth, Los Fresnos fell 63 to 61.
Now 7-2 on the season, Los Fresnos has a couple more key matchups in the non-district campaign before 32-6A play kicks off in mid-January. Some non-district matchups to look out for are, Rio Hondo, PSJA North, Mission, Laredo United South and Economedes.
