Los Fresnos Baseball Season Set to Begin
By Ruben Rodriguez
Los Fresnos News
The Los Fresnos Falcons Baseball Team is set to begin the regular season against the Palmview Lobos in a rematch of last season’s extra inning thriller. Here is what to expect for the Falcons in 2023.
In the last two seasons, Los Fresnos has had some success on the diamond. In 2021, the Falcons finished off 12-2 in 32-6A and quietly went on to the Regional Final. Last season, Los Fresnos continued their dominance in district play, finishing off 14-0 and capturing the 32-6A Title before falling to Mission in the Bi-District Round of the Playoffs. This season, Los Fresnos will have a lengthy non-district schedule. With the departures of Harlingen South and Donna North to 32-5A, the Falcons will now be in a six-team 32-6A, which will consist of a 10 game district calendar.
For Los Fresnos, The Falcons will co-host the Port Isabel/Los Fresnos Tournament from February 23-25. Following a matchup against Edinburg North, the Falcons will travel to the Coastal Bend and take part in the Annual Mira’s Classic. After that, Los Fresnos will compete in the El Campo Tournament. To wrap up non-district play, Los Fresnos will continue on the Tour of 31-6A, taking on Edinburg, La Joya, PSJA and Mission.
32-6A action will begin on March 28 as Los Fresnos will take on Brownsville Rivera in a two game series. Following Rivera, Los Fresnos will take on rival Weslaco on April 4 & 6, Hanna on April 11 & 14, San Benito on April 18 & 21, then Harlingen on April 25 & 28 to wrap up the 32-6A Schedule.
Los Fresnos had a solid 2022 and look to continue that momentum this season. Los Fresnos had an overall record of 25-8 overall and 14-0 in 32-6A play.
