Los Fresnos News
As the summer months go by, we near the Fall which means College Football is on the horizon. One team to lookout for heading into 2023 is the Texas Longhorns.
2023 will be a significant year as it will mark Texas’ final season in the Big 12 Conference as the Horns will move entirely to the Southeastern Conference alongside Oklahoma in 2024.
To open up the season, Texas will host Rice on September 2. In week two, The Horns will then take on SEC powerhouse Alabama in a rematch of last year’s shootout in Austin. Texas will have one more non conference tune up against the Wyoming Cowboys.
Texas will open Big 12 play against in state rival Baylor on September 23. Texas will then host Kansas on September 30. Following the Jayhawks, Texas will travel to Dallas to take on Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout on October 7.
After a BYE Week, Texas will take on two newcomers in the Big 12 as The Longhorns will meet Houston on October 21, then BYU on October 28.
Texas will resume conference play against Kansas State on November 4th, then TCU on Veteran’s Day. To finish off the Regular season, Texas will take on Iowa State on November 18, then Texas Tech on November 25.
Last Season, the Longhorns finished off 8-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play. Texas looks to improve on that and also make some changes. Last season, the Longhorns were led by star running back Bijan Robinson. This season, Texas looks to find a new leader in either Quinn Ewers or Freshman Arch Manning.
