Falcons outlast Bears in a Week Three Thriller
By Ruben Rodriguez
Los Fresnos News
After falling short to the PSJA North Raiders, the Los Fresnos Falcons turned their attention to 31-6A’s PSJA Bears for week three of the 2023 Texas High School Football season. A rematch if the 2022 meeting that saw the Falcons win 36-33, the Falcons were set to defeat the Bears again.
The Falcons controlled the first quarter on both sides of the ball, scoring a touchdown and field goal, all while keeping PSJA Scoreless.
The Bears however, would return the favor as PSJA Would tack on a touchdown of their own and shutdown the Falcon offense to make it 10-7 heading into halftime.
Things got heavy in the third quarter as PSJA again was able to outscore Los Fresnos. Defense which has dominated the majority of the game, once again was the case as the Bears were able to pick up one touchdown as Los Fresnos was only able to pick up a field goal.
The fourth quarter saw the Falcons and Bears evenly matched up as both teams were able to pick up one touchdown. The Bears tacked on a touchdown plus the two point conversion. Meanwhile, Los Fresnos was able to score a touchdown and a field goal. The Falcons would hold on to win 22-21.
Now 2-1 on the season, the Falcons will continue non-district action as they take on La Joya, then Mission before beginning 32-6A play October 10 against Brownsville Rivera.
