On September 11, 2023, the Community of Los Fresnos came together to commemorate the lives that were tragically taken 22 years ago. A day our Country will never forget. Los Fresnos Boy Scout Troop 61 and 161, and the local Civil Air Patrol Squadron TX091 along with members of the community all came together last Tuesday evening to participate in this very special memorial.

Cadets from the Civil Air Patrol presented the colors and helped the Scouts kick off the memorial ceremony. Col. Juan Arredondo who attended the ceremony and a senior member of CAP shares, “The 9/11 ceremony itself was put together by the Scout Troops 61 and 161 out of Los Fresnos.” Arredondo says they have been the ones organizing it for the past 10 years in honor of those who were lost on that day. He adds, “CAP has assisted with the color guard and other duties for the past couple of years since some of our cadets have also been members of the scout troop.”

Mayor Alex (Alejandro) Flores shares, “Today, we remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001. We remember the lives lost, the heroes who risked their lives to save others, and the courage of those who faced the unimaginable. As we reflect on this day, let us also remember the strength of our community and the resilience of our nation. We are proud to be part of the City of Los Fresnos, Texas, and we will never forget the events of September 11, 2001.”
