Rotary Recognizes Students Of The Month, Has Guest Speaker, And More!

Rotary Club of Los Fresnos held its regular club meeting at Arnie’s Winghouse on Thursday, September 21st with a full agenda.
From Los Fresnos Rotary Club
1st We held a Celebration of Life for our former Fellow Rotarian, Polo Narvaez’ and a special presentation to retire his name badge. Past President, Darlene Pederson, PDG, Andrew Hagan(Honorary Member) and PDG, Kent Malquist (Honorary Member) led the presentation. District Governor, Luis Cavazos was not able to attend in person however, he did send a message to the family, that was read during the celebration of life.
The Narvaez family honored us with their presence for the celebration of life. Joining us were his daughters, Millie Garcia and Dora Narvaez Gonzales, her husband, Antonio also Polo’s sister, Teresa Sandate and her husband, Victor. We are also delighted to have Antonio Gonzalez IV (Polo’s grandson) a member of the Los Fresnos Interact Club.

2nd our Keynote speaker, Dr. Antonio Caldwell, Deputy Director of Animal Services for the City of Brownsville shared with us a few tips and requests to help keep our four-legged companions safe and happy. The Brownsville Animal Regulation and Care Center will have its inaugural “Toast To Tails Gala” at the Brownsville Events Center at 6 PM Saturday, Nov. 4, 2023.
3rd we had our first Students of the Month for the year 2023-2024. Principal and Rotarian, Justin Stumbaugh introduced Shiloh Jones, Volleyball/Basketball player and Jaiden Gonzalez, Football player, these 2 seniors were selected to represent the LFHS Athletics. Shiloh and Jaiden were our special guest speakers and talked about their passion for sports and their future plans. We want to wish both of these fine athletes a successful and blessed year.
