The Los Fresnos Falcons faced off against the Harlingen Cardinals in week 11 of the 2023 Texas High School Football season. Looking to bounce back after falling to San Benito in Week 10, the Falcons looked to close out 32-6A with a win.
In what was an equally matched first quarter, the Cardinals and Los Fresnos both were able to score a touchdown as the score was 7-7 heading into the second.
In what was a mirror image of the first quarter, both the Falcons and Cardinals once again scored one touchdown each to make it a 14-14 game at the half.
The defense came alive for both teams as no touchdown was scored in the third. Los Fresnos however was able to shut out Harlingen as the Falcons put up a field goal to lead 17-14 heading into the fourth quarter.
The Tables turned in the fourth quarter as Harlingen this time scored a touchdown, as well as shutout Fresnos. Harlingen’s touchdown would be the decider as Harlingen would win 21-17 over Los Fresnos.
To end the Regular season, Los Fresnos went 6-4 overall and 2-3 in District. Los Fresnos enters the post season as the 4th seed in 32-6A, and will face off against PSJA in the 6A Bi-District Round.
