Los Fresnos Hosts 2024 Business EXPO

This year the City of Los Fresnos is proud to host the Los Fresnos 2024 EXPO at the Los Fresnos EMS and Fire Department Station Conference Center at 100 Rodeo Drive on Thursday, February 29, 2024.


This year’s EXPO will have a variety of speakers going into more detail on networking business opportunities. There will be more information regarding zoning and permits process, business matching grants, and “Texas Online Tax Registration Application for new sales taxes for existing permit holders. Other topics that will be discussed are SBA 504 business loans, ARPA Covid business assistance, business and construction loans available in eligible areas of Los Fresnos-Indian Lake-Bayview-Laureles and rural Cameron County Coastal area, and SBA loan guarantee programs and working with banks in starting or expanding your business.

Come Dream, Come Build (CDCB) is a nonprofit housing organization that has been “Building dreams for RGV families since 1974.” CDCB has a new plant in the Los Fresnos area and will be speaking at this year’s 2024 Expo on eligibility for single-family home ownership through them.


This year’s EXPO will start at 5:30 p.m. and be broken down into 5- and 10-minute key topics. This EXPO will kick off with Mark Milum (City Manager of Los Fresnos), Arturo Gonzalez (UTRGV), Marcela Saenz (CDCB Marketing Director), Cyndi Garza (SBA Loan Officer), Roel Gomez (USDA Rural Development District director-Edinburg) and Angela R. Burton (SBA’s Lower RGV District Director).
Los Fresnos is the fastest-growing city in Cameron County and a center for growth and opportunities for the surrounding areas of Laureles, Bayview, and Indian Lake. This year’s expo is a perfect way to highlight the city’s growth and this event will be able to assist Los Fresnos businesses, realtors, banks, and entrepreneurs in the trade area to have direct contact and information on opportunities available to start or expand business.


City Manager Mark Milum said The City of Los Fresnos is a “1-Stop Business Center” where the City, Chamber, and Community Development Corporation team are locally available to help with growth information for you to reach your business goals, connect you with grants, loans, contracting information, provide you with retail sales data and other economic information.


The team has also invited various federal, state, and county presenters who have resources that will support your existing business or new business startups. Los Fresnos Chamber of Commerce CEO Val Champion stated that the Chambers role in the City’s “1-Stop Business Center” is to serve Chamber Members throughout the year, expand the City and Coastal Area brand, as well as keep a vibrant Community engagement for families and children by hosting annual events such as Christmas and Rodeo Parades, Easter Egg hunt, Independence Day Celebration, Halloween and Christmas festivals and working with the Los Fresnos Community Development Corporation.

The Los Fresnos Community Development Board led by Liaison Desi Martinez, M.A. is a support to the city to create a center of information on local, state, and federal grants, loans, and tax abatements.
