Nearing the end of March can only mean one thing in the State of Texas, and that is the start of Baseball and Softball Season. Teams across the RGV are gearing up to take part in the Journey to Austin for the State Tournament. One team that is geared up and looked at as contenders is the Lady Falcons.
After a solid 2022-23 season, the Lady Falcons made an appearance in the Area Round after a huge regular season. A 27-7 overall record, as well as a 7-3 District record certainly is a recipe for success.
The Lady Falcons look to repeat and improve upon the success of last year heading into this season. Five games in, the Lady Falcons seem to be on the right track.
The Lady Falcons opened up the season by picking up a massive 11-2 win over 3A powerhouse Lyford. Their second game of the season saw the Lady Falcons fall to 32-5A standout Mercedes in a 1-0 nail-biter.
The Lady Falcons then bounced back, defeating McAllen Rowe 6-2. The wins didn’t stop there as the Lady Falcons were able to pick up two more victories right after. Los Fresnos knocked off Edinburg Economedes 9-4, and Mission 8-5.
At 4-1, the Lady Falcons look to continue their success, But it won’t be easy. The Lady Falcons will take on a variety of Talent from across Texas including Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, San Antonio Warren, Tivy, Pearsall, Corpus Christi Carroll, and Incarnate Word Academy before opening district against the River Raiders on March 14.
Plenty of excitement as the Lady Falcons are ready for a long road ahead.
