Who’s ready to get rowdy?! The 2nd Annual Rotary Club event with The Greatest Showball Team on Earth is coming to Los Fresnos on Friday, April 19, 2024, and you don’t want to miss it.
This basketball showdown will feature the Flight Squad, a Showball Team which consist of former professional athletes and Division 1 players who have played on teams in the USA as well as overseas. Their mission and passion is to play a high level game in a family-friendly environment that will help raise funds for organizations and inspire the community. The Flight Squad will be playing a game against the Flying Falcons, a team composed of Los Fresnos community members, which usually includes teachers, coaches and, local business owners.
In addition to the main event, the popular basketball shoot-out battles are back! The shoot-out battles are a crowd favorite as they bring out everyone’s competitive spirit. During the shoot-out, participants try to out-shoot each other by scoring the most free-throws in a nerve-wracking time frame. Participants are usually sponsored to represent local businesses or pay a donation to enter. But not to be outshined, there will also be special dance performances! The dance lineup includes, Las Yescas Elemetary Folklorico, Olmito Elementary Cheer Team, Los Cuates Middle School Cheer Team, Las Yescas Elementary Cheer Team, and the RGV Viper Cheerleaders!
This event, put together and hosted by the Rotary Club of Los Fresnos and sponsored by the Los Fresnos CISD, promises to be entertaining and fun for the whole family. The Rotary Club share on their Facebook page, “don’t miss out on the excitement— join us at the Greatest Showball Team on Earth game and experience the magic of the sport firsthand. Get ready to cheer, chant, and celebrate as we come together to witness the power and beauty of basketball in action.
