Los Fresnos CISD Announces Athletic Hall of Honor

-Athletic Hall of Honor will recognize outstanding athletes from past and present.
-Nominations open in January 2025; Inaugural class set for Fall 2025.
Los Fresnos CISD is set to launch the Athletic Hall of Honor, a prestigious initiative aimed at recognizing outstanding athletes, coaches, and teams. The Hall of Honor seeks to preserve the athletic achievements of those who have significantly contributed to Los Fresnos High School’s legacy. All sports will be included in this prestigious initiative, which will induct the inaugural class in Fall 2025.
Honoring Excellence
The Hall of Honor will highlight individuals and teams that exemplify dedication, skill, and sportsmanship. Each year, a selection committee will induct a maximum of four individuals and one team – with the exception of the inaugural class, which can include up to eight individuals and two teams. Honorees are inducted under one of three categories: Athlete, Coach, or Team.
Selection Process
Nominations will be accepted from current faculty, staff, and alumni. The selection committee will initially consist of seven individuals, including the Superintendent or his designee, High School Principals or designees, the Athletic Director, and community representatives. The committee will evaluate candidates based on thorough nominations submitted by April 1st each year through an online application.
“The Athletic Hall of Honor is not just about recognizing past achievements; it’s about celebrating the spirit of excellence in Los Fresnos CISD athletics and providing motivation for our future student-athletes to excel,” said David Cantu, Los Fresnos CISD Athletic Director.
A Lasting Legacy
“The Hall of Honor will serve to inspire pride within our community and encourage our young athletes to strive for greatness. We look forward to recognizing those who have set the standard for current and future generations,” said Dr. Gonzalo Salazar, Superintendent for Los Fresnos CISD.
The nomination process for the inaugural Los Fresnos CISD Athletic Hall of Honor will open in January 2025 and closing in April. Honorees will be inducted during a ceremony in Fall 2025. Please visit www.lfcisd.net/athletics for more information.
