The Los Fresnos Falcons continued non-district action after wrapping up their final tournament in San Antonio. Two more non-district games were next for the Falcons.
Due up were the Edinburg North Cougars. Out of 31-6A, this was a potential bi-district preview. The Falcons took control in the first quarter by outscoring the Cougars 17-12. The action continued with Los Fresnos holding on to the lead 29-23.
The second half was dominated by offense by both Los Fresnos and Edinburg North. A combined 34 point third quarter set the stage for a close game. The fourth quarter was another high scoring affair that saw the Falcons outscore the Cougars 18-17. The offense was just enough for Los Fresnos to prevail 63-58.
Their next road trip took them down Highway 100 to take on Port Isabel. A tough 4A squad, the Tarpons have given the Falcons some good battles over the years. The first quarter saw both teams in a wild fight for the lead. A battle to be on top, the first ended with the Tarpons and Falcons tied at 14-14.
However, things turned out a different way in the second quarter as Los Fresnos would outscore the Tarpons 25-5 in the second quarter. The Tarpons, despite a strong third quarter, were not able to catch up to the Falcons. Los Fresnos would cruise to a 81-49 win.
Now 18-6, the Falcons will continue to wrap up the remainder of non-district play right after the Christmas break.
