As the Calendar flips to 2025, the Los Fresnos Boys Basketball team ended the year with a bang. The 12th month of 2024 could be summed up under one word, Dominance. The Los Fresnos played their last two tournaments and faced off against a plethora of competition.
December did not begin on the right track as the Falcons dropped a close one to LJ Palmview 64-60.
The tide quickly turned as Los Fresnos competed in the Hidalgo Pirate Classic. The Falcons made their presence felt, going on a 5-0 run, knocking off STX High (91-51), PSJA North (73-52), La Feria (52-44), Corpus Christi Ray (66-54) and Hidalgo (70-53). The win streak would come to an end as Los Fresnos would fall to Houston Stafford in the tournament final 74-71.
In between tournaments, the Falcons knocked off 31-6A squad PSJA 89-35.
That same week the Falcons traveled to San Antonio to compete in the Diamondbacker Invitational. Dropping two of three, Los Fresnos won their last game against San Antonio Taft 60-53.
To wrap up the month, Los Fresnos would pick up two straight wins against Edinburg North (63-58), and Port Isabel 81-49. Their final game of the year, the Falcons faced off against Laredo United South. Despite trailing early and getting a comeback going, the Falcons fell short to United South 67-49.
The Falcons finish off the month with a 9-5 record through 14 games. Now as we ring in the new year, the Falcons will turn their attention to District come January 10 where they open 32-6A play come January 10.
