Discover an extraordinary Expo experience like no other in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV)!
Join the Winter Wildlife Expo for an immersive three-day event featuring a series of captivating presentations that delve into a wide range of topics related to coastal nature. In addition to the presentations, we invite you to participate in pre-expo field trips that will take you to some of the most breathtaking and untamed locations in the Laguna Madre area.
This year, the Winter Wildlife Expo will be hosted at the renowned South Padre Island Birding Nature Center & Alligator Sanctuary, a perfect backdrop for nature enthusiasts. We encourage you to register for an exciting and educational guided nature adventure along the scenic Laguna Madre!
From February 3rd to 5th, explore the wild and pristine environments of the Lower Laguna Madre area through specially organized pre-expo field trips. Participants will experience diverse coastal habitats within the Laguna Atascosa National Wildlife Refuge, renowned for its unique ecosystems. You will also have the opportunity to visit private ranches and residences that showcase the area’s rich biodiversity. These guided tours will be led by expert naturalists who will enhance your understanding of the local wildlife and ecosystems, making this experience both informative and enjoyable.
As you traverse the stunning landscapes of South Texas, both by land and water, prepare to be awed by the incredible diversity of bird species that call this region home during the winter months. The area’s abundant wildlife includes fascinating creatures such as White-tailed Deer, Texas Tortoises, Javelina, Nilgai, Bobcats, Coyotes, and the elusive Ocelot. Each field trip promises a unique adventure and the chance to observe these animals in their natural habitats.
