The 2025 Los Fresnos Falcons Little League season has officially begun, and with it comes a renewed sense of energy, commitment, and community spirit. Behind the league’s success is a newly appointed board composed of dedicated volunteers: Hector Martinez (President), Roxy Mills (Vice-President), Gonzalo Gonzalez (Treasurer), David Gillespie (Secretary), Heath Brewer (Player Agent), Eloy Gomez (Umpire-in-Chief), and Dan Avila (Coaching Coordinator). This team follows in the footsteps of the former board, who laid the foundation and set the standard of success, made up of Joe Vasquez, Joe Aguirre, Joe Kitterman, Gary Solomon, and Trina Gonzalez.

This season is already one for the record books. For the first time in recent history, enrollment surpassed 500 players, with a total of 510 participants, up from 474 last year. The league also saw a surge in community sponsorship, growing from 34 sponsors in 2024 to 44 sponsors in 2025, raising an additional $5,000 in donations to support the league’s operations and development.

Major backing also came from the Los Fresnos Community Development Corporation (CDC), which contributed $10,000 and committed to fully funding a new $60,000 concession stand. This modern facility will provide more space and accessibility for families attending games throughout the season.

The season kicked off in style with a spectacular Opening Ceremony on April 4, which was attended by approximately 1,500 people. The event was powered by community collaborations, most notably with Los Fresnos High School. The school’s Mariachi, under the direction of Alex Martinez, had performed the national anthem. The Navy JROTC, led by Chief Thomas Cacy, had conducted the color guard, while maintenance director Guillermo Marin and his team had managed the inflatable Falcon and fog tunnel, giving the young athletes a grand entrance to remember.

The community spirit doesn’t stop there. Jent Buche of Gator Plumbing, one of the league’s top sponsors, generously provided 500 tickets for Little League players and families to attend the UTRGV Baseball Game on April 12—a gesture that highlights how deeply local businesses are investing in youth sports and community connection.

With teams now formed and games underway, the league’s mission remains rooted in community involvement, youth development, and a shared love of baseball and softball.
