Falcons Open up with Big Win Over San Benito

Los Fresnos Baseball opened up 32-6A play against San Benito after competing in the 18th annual Mira’s Sports Classic in Corpus Christi. After a 2-3 performance at the classic, The Falcons were looking to kick off their road to the postseason with a big win over a tough Greyhound Squad.
Leading things off for the Falcons was two runs coming in the top of the first inning and rendered San Benito scoreless through three innings of play as Senior Matthew Padilla had a dominant presence on the mound with 18 strikeouts throughout the ballgame.
Dominant playmaking for the Falcons defensively also limited San Benito to only just one run on two hits. Key Falcons Hector Muniz, Luis Lucio and Diego Cantu all contributed to lead the Falcons to a 4-1 victory over San Benito. Los Fresnos scored four runs of four hits and one error in their 2022 32-6A opener.
So what lies ahead for the Falcons in 32-6A? The Falcons will compete in the Round Robin Porter tournament before hosting San Benito in their final district meeting this season. Los Fresnos will then begin their series against Donna North on March 22-25. The Falcons then will take on Rivera on March 29 then April 1. April 5-8 the Falcons will take on powerhouse Weslaco before facing off against defending district champion Harlingen April 12-16. The last two series for Los Fresnos will be against Brownsville Hanna on April 19-22 and then finally Harlingen South the wrap up the regular season on April 26-29.
Currently sitting at 8-4 overall, 1-0 in 32-6A, Los Fresnos looks to continue their run at a district title heading into 2022. With a well-rounded lineup of Pitching and Hitting, Coach Morales’ ballclub is on a mission to capture district gold and make another deep run in the postseason in 2022.
