On a Cold, Rainy Thursday Night, The Los Fresnos Falcons took on the San Antonio Brennan Bears in the Area Round of the 2021 UIL Class 6A Division 1 Playoffs. After the big Bi-District win over Edinburg North, Los Fresnos looked to continue that against the San Antonio Brennan Bears. In a rematch of the 2021 Area round that saw the Bears defeat Los Fresnos 63-10, the Falcons knew what to expect heading into the match.
After starting off with an onside kick, Brennan wasted no time as the offense capped off a two play drive with a seven yard touchdown run by Jason Love. Brennan’s offense was led by UTSA Signee Ashton Dubose, who picked up two touchdowns in the first half to lead 21-0. Los Fresnos, after a rough start managed to put up a touchdown on the board as Miguel Ortiz punched in a one yard scramble into the endzone to make it 21-7 at the half. Despite a low scoring first half, Los Fresnos was able to limit Brennan to three touchdowns, as well as force key turnovers.
The second half saw Brennan jump ahead with key offense. Dubose again had a two touchdown second half with a 56 yard pass to Aaron Acevedo, then a 31 yard touchdown run. Jason Love would pick up his second touchdown run to close the door on Los Fresnos. 42-7 was the final score.
Los Fresnos wrapped up the season 7-5 overall and finished fourth in 32-6A.
