The local community is warmly invited to participate in the significant 30th Annual Rio Reforestation Event, an excellent opportunity for habitat restoration organized by the United States Fish & Wildlife Service and its numerous conservation partners. The event is set amidst the beautiful scenery of the Milagro Tract at the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge in Pharr, TX. It promises a day of environmental stewardship, tree planting, and conservation education for all participants. Mark your calendars for Saturday, October 19, 2024, and join them in positively impacting our natural world.
Let’s make a difference by planting 15,000 native seedlings on 15 acres of farmland at the Lower Rio Grande Valley National Wildlife Refuge. This initiative will provide a new habitat for native wildlife and over 400 species of migratory birds. In addition to the planting activity, the event will offer educational sessions about native habitats and provide promotional items and food/drinks. You’ll also be able to engage with our conservation partners in the Rio Grande Valley. Join us in this meaningful endeavor to protect and rehabilitate our natural environment.
Individuals with a deep passion for nature and a strong desire to contribute to preserving our planet are warmly welcomed. This is an excellent opportunity to accrue volunteer hours, establish connections with conservation agencies, and partake in a gratifying experience that will instill pride in our local community.
No prior experience is necessary; all that’s required is your enthusiasm and a commitment to making a positive impact. It’s essential to come prepared with sunscreen, shovels, gloves, water, and a hat. Let’s join forces to enhance the greenery of our community! Just envision the satisfaction of witnessing your seedlings evolve into a thriving forest, knowing that your efforts have made a tangible difference. So, mark your calendars and invite your friends, schools, and family to partake in this meaningful day.
Together, let’s effect change at Rio Reforestation and experience the gratification of contributing to a noble cause! If you have any inquiries, please don’t hesitate to contact the Santa Ana National Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center at (956) 784-7500.
